Discovered in 1900 in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, the Tholuwila statue dates back to the 4th or 5th century. Crafted from granite, it's among Sri Lanka's best-preserved sculptures, resembling the Samadhi statue and possibly influenced by the Mathura School. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 m), it depicts the Buddha in meditation with crossed legs and joined hands, known as the dhyana mudra, seated in the weerasana style. Housed in the National Museum of Colombo, this single-block granite statue showcases exquisite craftsmanship and spiritual symbolism, offering a glimpse into ancient Buddhist artistry and devotion.

1900 දී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අනුරාධපුරයෙන් සොයා ගන්නා ලද තොළුවිල ප්‍රතිමාව, සිව්වැනි හෝ පස්වැනි සියවස්වලට අයත් වන බවට සැලකේ. කළුගල් වලින් සාදන ලද මෙම ප්‍රතිමාව, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ හොඳින්සංම රක්ෂණය වී තිබූ මූර්තියක් වන අතර, සමාධි ප්‍රතිමාවට සමාන කමක් සහ මතුරා කලා ශිල්පයේ ආභාසයක් දරයි. මෙම ප්‍රතිමාව උසින් අඩි 5 යි අඟල් 9 (මීටර් 1.75) ක් වන අතර , වීරාසන ධ්‍යාන මුද්‍රාවෙන් භාවනාවේ සිටින බුදුන් නිරූපනය කරයි. කොළඹ ජාතික කෞතුකාගාරයේ තැන්පත් කර ඇති මෙම සම්පූර්ණ ග්‍රැනයිට් ප්‍රතිමාව පුරාණ බෞද්ධ කලාව, භක්තිය මෙන්ම අතිවිශිෂ්ට ශිල්පීය හැකියාවන් සහ අධ්‍යාත්මික සංකේත ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරයි.
